MARY REICHARD, HOST: A raccoon in St. Paul, Minnesota became a social media sensation this week.
Wildlife rescuer Christina Valdivia says the little fur ball was discovered on a downtown loading dock.
VALDIVA: He was actually eating pigeon eggs, and then when we got there, I believe that the raccoon had been scared up, so that’s why it started climbing.
Started climbing and kept climbing. Internet viewers tracked the raccoon’s progress up the 23-story building. It paused occasionally to nap on window sills before finally making it to the roof.
A trapper caught the raccoon by baiting it with wet cat food.
VALDIVA: Cat food is definitely the cream of the crop for them.
Rescuers then released the now-famous raccoon back into obscurity in the wild.
