NICK EICHER, HOST: Innocent until proven guilty, but two lunch ladies in Connecticut have been arrested and charged with stealing lunch money.
The women are sisters and they’re accused of siphoning cash between 2012 and 2017 from student lunch payments. According to law enforcement, the total missing is no trivial amount. It totals half-a-million dollars! Police fear the skimming operation may have been going on for as many as 15 years.
The New Canaan Board of Education caught the alleged thievery when schools installed new software that tracks lunch-money deposits.
