Kicker: Lucky alpaca

MARY REICHARD, HOST: There’s nothing more fierce than a mom protecting her baby.

A cougar in Washington State learned that lesson the hard way when he tried to make a meal out of a 1-week-old alpaca.

Mama alpaca was caught on video chasing the cat after it nabbed her baby at an alpaca farm and tried to make a getaway.

She chased him around the pen and the cougar eventually dropped the baby and ran away.

The little alpaca survived the attack, and the owners of the farm have since named him “Lucky.”

But he did require stitches on his neck and is fighting off an infection.

The owners set up a GoFundMe campaign to cover his vet bills. At last count, donors have given more than 2-thousand dollars to help little Lucky recover.
