NICK EICHER, HOST: Authorities in Northern California on the lookout for an enormous hammer.
A seriously gigantic one. The kind you could imagine, say, Paul Bunyan might use.
I’m talking an 800-pound ball-peen hammer made of metal with a long redwood handle. The hammer measures 21 feet long. The head itself is 6 feet tall.
You might’ve guessed by now it’s not a functional hammer. It’s a work of art, and police in California wine country say it vanished over the weekend…
The artist who created it loaned it out about a year ago for display on the lawn of the local community center. It’s valued at $15,000.
The artist says it would have required about eight people or a flatbed trailer with a winch to carry it off.
Police, of course, are working hard to nail the culprits.
It’s The World and Everything in It.
