Kicker: A good deed punished

NICK EICHER, HOST: You know the old saying: No good deed goes unpunished.

The latest example found in the ancient city of Hebron.

The chief of police there is a man named Ahmad Abu al-Rub. Someone shot a video of him helping Israeli soldiers fix a flat tire on their jeep.

The vehicle was blocking a road and al-Rub saw the soldiers struggling to fix it. So he offered to help.

What you’d ordinarily consider a simple act of kindness, a Palestinian government official saw as treasonous.

The police chief found himself suspended for the collaborating with the enemy. He now faces an “investigative committee.”
