MARY REICHARD, HOST: Every vote counts!
That’s a lesson one city council candidate in Arkansas learned the hard way.
Cliff Farmer lost his bid for a seat on the Hoxie City Council because he didn’t vote. The election ended in a tie!
The only thing to do? Roll the dice!
Farmer and his opponent, incumbent Alderwoman Beck Linebaugh, each threw a die.
Farmer rolled a four. Linebaugh rolled a six.
She stays on the job.
Farmer had intended to vote in last week’s runoff election after returning from a business trip.
But his flight landed 92 miles away in Memphis an hour before polls closed in Hoxie. He just couldn’t make it home in time.
At least next trip, he won’t have to rush.
It’s The World and Everything in It.
