Kicker: GetPet

MARY REICHARD, HOST: Finding your perfect match these days can mean using your smartphone.

AUDIO: [Dogs barking]

One mobile app called GetPet launched last month in Lithuania. It features furry friends in shelters looking for fur-ever homes, complete with details about the pup. If you like what you see, swipe right. Otherwise, swipe left and look for another potential match.

GetPet joins growing market to match strays with humans, such as BarkBuddy and PawsLikeMe. A profile pic that practically shouts “pick me!” leads you to scroll down and learn details.

The idea for GetPet came when the developer was in computer class and saw a stray dog through the window. Why not put the two together?
