Kicker: A political tall tale

NICK EICHER, HOST: Bill de Blasio is the mayor of New York, and brace yourself: a pun’s upon us.

DE BLASIO: Today, we’re here to bring honor to someone who’s brought politics to new heights [laughs]

De Blasio is 6-foot-5, but he looks up to city councilman Robert Cornegy, 6-foot-10.

DE BLASIO: Don’t take it from me. Take it from the Guinness Book of World Records. This is amazing. You, my friends, are in the presence of the world’s tallest elected official.

But, my friends, this may be fake news!

The mayor of the aptly named city of Warrensville Heights, Ohio, has taken politics to even greater heights!

Mayor Brad Sellers played for the Chicago Bulls. And according to NBA statistics, he’s 7 feet tall.

Apparently what we have here is just another political tall-tale.
