Kicker: Bad News Bears

NICK EICHER, HOST: Authorities in Estes Park, Colorado, noted a recent rash of car break-ins, and they’re warning people who live in the area: you better lock your car.

Kevin Buckert told the local TV station KMGH he got a call last week from his sister.

BUCKERT: She was pretty frantic and was all upset.

Yeah she was. Somebody broke into her car.

But it wasn’t a somebody.

BUCKERT: Bear got in the car and the door shut behind him.

And that’s a problem for bears. They can open from the outside, but not the inside.

Can you imagine this? A bear locked inside a car. They don’t take that very well.

BUCKERT: The car’s totaled out. Yeah, it’s just demolished.

Bottom line? When in bear country, take out anything with a scent and lock those doors.
