Kicker: New Coke

NICK EICHER, HOST: In 1985 one of America’s largest and most iconic companies introduced a new product and revamped its signature offering.

After painstaking product research and testing, the folks with the bowties and the clipboards told the folks in the corner offices that it was sure to be a big hit!

But now, 34 years later, the company is bringing it back!

AUDIO: When you’re searching for something better, more modern, refreshing, tune in to the taste of New Coke.

Coke-Cola is producing a limited number of cans of New Coke. It’s part of a marketing tie-in with the Netflix series “Stranger Things.”

Season three of the show takes place in summer of 1985, just months after Coke’s ill-fated launch of something better, more modern, refreshingly disastrous.

It’s The World and Everything in It.
