Kicker: Duck rescue

NICK EICHER, HOST: A raft of ducklings is safe in Denver after a firefighter rescued them from a storm drain.

He didn’t use the typical tools.

He used his cell phone! There is an app for that.

First thing he did was remove the grate over the storm drain. But the frightened ducklings were out of reach inside a long pipe.

So the enterprising firefighter pulled up a video of duck calls, and held the phone to the edge of the pipe.

The ducklings followed the calls and came right on out.

AUDIO: (tweets) Nice! Did you play duck sounds? That is genius!

Mamma duck was nearby to lead her babies the rest of the way.
