NICK EICHER, HOST: If you’re booking a room at the Haneda Excel Hotel in Tokyo, you have a number of options.
You could book a standard single or double room. Or for a slight upcharge, you can book a room with a sea view or a garden view.
Or cockpit view. Did I mention the hotel is right near the Haneda International Airport.
Seriously, the hotel offers a room where, instead of a big window, there’s an actual Boeing 737 flight simulator. It’s called the “Superior Cockpit Room.”
The room itself is just over $200 a night. But a 90-minute session on the flight simulator with an expert instructor, that’s gonna run you an additional $280.
You should see the screen on this thing, and I really can’t imagine it’s especially suited to a good night’s sleep. And I’ve got to think it’s a challenge sleeping in the upright and locked position.
It’s The World and Everything in It.
